Part 9 – Using the Wasabi360 to play ISO Files

This is Part 9 of a 10 Part tutorial on the different aspects of playing backup ISO files on an XBOX 360. In Part 9, I will explain how to use the Wasabi360 to play the ISO files that were obtained from owned media based on the previous 8 steps.

How to use the Wasabi360 - General

1. Hook USB/eSATA External Enclosure to Computer

2. Copy the .ISO ABGX completed file to the External Hard Drive

3. Hook External Drive eSATA to Wasabi360

4. Make sure the switch is in the correct position

a. Emulation Mode = Using eSATA Drive, not DVD Drive

i.image

Using the Emulation Mode on the Wasabi360

Basic Idea how it works (Without the DVDMenu Util)

1. Make sure “Home” says “Mixed Media Disc”. If it does not, use the “Y” to eject the ISO that could possibly be mounted. If you DVD drive ejects, something is wrong or you are in Pass-through mode.

2. To open an ISO, you browse to Video Player

a.image

3. Open “Current Disc”

a.image

4. Browse the list, pick a game you want

5. Go back to the Home menu and click the “Y” to “Inject” the ISO.

a. You should see the game in the “Home”. Just click Play. It should work properly

6. If you cannot see a game after injecting and it still says “Mixed Media Disc” it is likely your ISO is no good. Run it through the ABGX with fixes, hopefully you get no RED during this operation.

Part 7: Using XBOX Backup Creator to Rip Owned Xbox360 ISOs - How to get from knowing nothing to playing ISO files on a slim XBOX 360 working with XGD3 decryption

Part 7 – Using XBOX Backup Creator to Rip Owned Xbox360 ISOs

This is Part 7 of a 10 Part tutorial on the different aspects of playing backup ISO files on an XBOX 360. In Part 7, I will explain how to use Xbox Backup Creator once the previous 6 steps have successfully completed.

NOTE: This will not work unless you have the 0800v3 firmware installed on your XBOX360 DVD Drive. It will not work with a non-XBOX360 Drive, a drive that does not have 0800v3 firmware (will to a point, but won’t support the XGD3 security), or any other methods not outlined in this guide. If it does, I haven’t personally verified it, so if you are still following this guide, you should probably look elsewhere as it’s likely not for you.

The Fun I didn’t have!

So I ran into this issue after flashing where my XBOX Backup Creator kept graying out the “START” and Drive Tools. Just like it wasn’t there. I found that I had this drive (ZEVGPKL LYZG52FOX). It wasn’t my DVD Drive, because it was tagged as a Blueray. So after many hours of reading, researching, testing, flashing, unflashing, reflashing, returning drives, going insane, loosing my mind… I think you get the idea, I ran into this one post that said to move the port, which I had done a few days ago and didn’t work. So I replaced my cable and used yet another port that hadn’t been used (Lucky I had 6). It worked just fine, the drive showed up as a PLDS DG-16D2S Drive

Highlighted is the wrong one? No clue what this is!

image

I actually Rt. Clicked on the ZEVGPKL drive and Disabled it.  Also, I had to physically connect the SATA cable from one port on my Motherboard to another.  No clue why, but I did find some forums discussing this, something about not being on the same port as where you flashed it.  Regardless I moved it to another free port, and scanned for Hardware changes.

Create the original XBOX360 Game Dump

1. Open Xbox Backup Creator (V2.9.0.350 or newer)

a.  Select the PLDS DG-16d2s Drive

image

2. Go into the Options, set the drive type

a.image

3. Go to Read

4. Start the process

a.image

5. Wait

6. Wait..

7. Wait longer, I’m unsure at this point, if you should just not do anything on your computer while this runs. Probably depends on the computer, this one should be able to handle multi-tasking

Part 6: Writing 0800v3 firmware to Liteon DG16D2s drive - How to get from knowing nothing to playing ISO files on a slim XBOX 360 working with XGD3 decryption

Disclaimer: I do not condone, support or agree with piracy. Pay the companies their dues as they have created great devices. I am not responsible for any damage, void warranties or other issues that you may encounter trying to follow these research guides. This information is for research/backup information only.

Part 6 – Writing 0800v3 firmware to Liteon DG16D2s drive

This is Part 6 of a 10 Part tutorial on the different aspects of playing backup ISO files on an XBOX 360. In Part 6, I will explain the steps required to prepare your Liteon DVD drive for ripping your owned XBOX 360 games.  When this step is done, you can read the Encrypted XBOX 360 games regardless of encryption technique.  Once you do this process, the drive can not longer be used inside a XBOX 360 console, without writing other firmware to the drive.

How to write the 0800v3 firmware to the drive

Note: The 0800 firmware does not need any sort of decryption/encryption key. This firmware just rips XBOX360 games, it does not Write DVD’s nor can it be used in an XBOX360 until you reflash firmware and drive encryption keys to a stock or iXtreme Firmware.

Use Jungleflasher to write the 0800 firmware to the Liteon Drive.

1. Open Source Firmware

a.image

2. Browse to find the 0800v3 firmware downloaded in original step

a.image

3. Click OK to the “external use Prompt”

a. OK - image

4. DO NOT CLICK YES

5. DO NOT CLICK YES (Yes I put this in here twice for a reason!)

a. Prompt for loading iXtreme – Click NO!

i. NO - image

6. Click the MKTFlash32 Tab

a.image

7. Pick the I/O Port that your drive is attached to.

a.image

8. Make sure the correct drive is in Drive Properties

a.image

9. You may need to hit the (…) to refresh the drive.

10. Click Lite-on Erase (again, this is a Lite-on drive tutorial, why it’s part of hardware list!)

a.image

11. Click “Yes if you get this prompt” We backed the key up earlier (if you didn’t skip that guide)

a. Yes -image

12. Click “Yes” to next prompt if requested

a. Yes -image

13. Get ready to toggle the power with the adapter

a.image

14. When you see the 0xD0 output, power off and power on the adapter

a.image

15. Hopefully it’s all successful by looking like this:

a.image

16. Once formatting is Complete, it’s time to write this 0800v3 firmware we chose in the earlier step.

a. Click Write

i.image

ii.image

b. Once it finishes, you should get Write verified OK. If this fails, try again, follow the guide and do google searches based on your error as this has worked every time I’ve tried. (One of the reasons I wrote this tutorial)

c. I found a tutorial/note to try starting with the probe on, then hit the first OK, remove the probe when asked, power cycle, then OK again. Seems a bit more stable of a way to do it, but I’m still unsure after many times of doing it. Just keep trying

17. Once finished, click the Outro to reset the bus and continue on with life.

Part 5: Backup Decryption Key on Liteon DG16D2s drive - How to get from knowing nothing to playing ISO files on a slim XBOX 360 working with XGD3 decryption

Disclaimer: I do not condone, support or agree with piracy. Pay the companies their dues as they have created great devices. I am not responsible for any damage, void warranties or other issues that you may encounter trying to follow these research guides. This information is for research/backup information only.

Part 5 – Backup Decryption Key on Liteon DG16D2s drive

This is Part 5 of a 10 Part tutorial on the different aspects of playing backup ISO files on an XBOX 360. In Part 5, I will explain the steps required to back up your Liteon DG16D2s drive encryption key. This step is NOT REQUIRED, but SUGGESTED.

Creating a backup of the drive key

NOTE: This is not required for a RIP-Only Drive; however I personally think since its 1-key/drive, it’s a good idea to backup. It’s possible your drive could be bad, so having this key will allow you to return for refund possibly. Please see How to test if your drive works before you start this fun? for more information.

Good to know: These instructions are based from the PDF included with Jungleflasher, I am just putting them to work towards the pieces of equipment I have used to make this all work. Refer to the PDF included in c:\xbox360\jungleflasher\documentation\jftut*.pdf as this will have the latest instructions.

Another Note: Your Drive should already be opened up, you should have a good location so you can touch the MPX01 pin, get to the Mouse, see your screen and toggle the power on the V4 Power Adapter.

1. Take game out of drive

2. Power on Drive

3. Open JungleFlasher

a. Make sure that PortIO64.sys is running, if not, you will need to go back to: Software Setup – Jungleflasher

b. Should say this: image_thumb[41]

c. If it does not, do not continue, it won’t work.

4. Click DVDKEY32

a.image_thumb[42]

5. Since the DG16D2S is a “PHAT Xbox Drive”, you will use the PHAT BUTTON. This is one of the reasons, this guide was built for this combo of parts!

a. Click IOPort until you find your DG16D2S Drive

i. It won’t necessarily be 0xF400image_thumb[43]

b. It should look like this when correct

i.image_thumb[44]

c. Click PhatKey

6.image_thumb[45]

7. Continue on to Key Extraction Routine

Start Key Extraction Routine

Click PhatKeyimage_thumb[46]

You will get a message like this
image_thumb[47]

Power off the 3.3v inline switch (On/Off Switch)

Off Position - image_thumb[48]

Put the Pogo Pin (Probe) on MPX01

Red Cable Plugged into to PGM
image_thumb[49]

Here is the pin again, but you should have this already figured out.
image_thumb[50]

Here is a horrible Close-up.
image_thumb[51]

Turn the power on the Adapter Board again
image_thumb[52]

You should start seeing readout like this
image_thumb[53]

Once you see the message “0x52” take the probe(pogo) from the MPX01 connection. You will possibly see this message at the same time.
image_thumb[54]

As it says, Remove the Probe/Pogo and Power off the drive. Once powered off, turn back on and click OK

Remove Probeimage_thumb[55]

Power off Adapter/Drive:image_thumb[56]

Power on the Adapter/Driveimage_thumb[57]

Click OKimage_thumb[58]

IMPORTANT: You should get a prompt to save the Dummy.bin file. Save it somewhere where you won’t lose it, this is your only recovery after you format/erase the drive in the following steps. This will be your last chance to know you can return the drive back to factory setting.

This Dummy.bin has your encryption keys. You should plan to keep this, however it’s not required (as of now) to dump the ISO for anything else we will be doing in this. Just a good idea to back this up. If you don’t have a probe, aren’t worried about a warranty return and just want to dump ISO files from an XBOX360 disk, don’t worry about this step.
