Part 6: Writing 0800v3 firmware to Liteon DG16D2s drive - How to get from knowing nothing to playing ISO files on a slim XBOX 360 working with XGD3 decryption

Part 6 – Writing 0800v3 firmware to Liteon DG16D2s drive

This is Part 6 of a 10 Part tutorial on the different aspects of playing backup ISO files on an XBOX 360. In Part 6, I will explain the steps required to prepare your Liteon DVD drive for ripping your owned XBOX 360 games.  When this step is done, you can read the Encrypted XBOX 360 games regardless of encryption technique.  Once you do this process, the drive can not longer be used inside a XBOX 360 console, without writing other firmware to the drive.

How to write the 0800v3 firmware to the drive

Note: The 0800 firmware does not need any sort of decryption/encryption key. This firmware just rips XBOX360 games, it does not Write DVD’s nor can it be used in an XBOX360 until you reflash firmware and drive encryption keys to a stock or iXtreme Firmware.

Use Jungleflasher to write the 0800 firmware to the Liteon Drive.

1. Open Source Firmware

2. Browse to find the 0800v3 firmware downloaded in original step

3. Click OK to the “external use Prompt”

a. OK - image

4. DO NOT CLICK YES

5. DO NOT CLICK YES (Yes I put this in here twice for a reason!)

a. Prompt for loading iXtreme – Click NO!

i. NO - image

6. Click the MKTFlash32 Tab

7. Pick the I/O Port that your drive is attached to.

9. You may need to hit the (…) to refresh the drive.

10. Click Lite-on Erase (again, this is a Lite-on drive tutorial, why it’s part of hardware list!)

11. Click “Yes if you get this prompt” We backed the key up earlier (if you didn’t skip that guide)

a. Yes -image

12. Click “Yes” to next prompt if requested

a. Yes -image

13. Get ready to toggle the power with the adapter

14. When you see the 0xD0 output, power off and power on the adapter

15. Hopefully it’s all successful by looking like this:

16. Once formatting is Complete, it’s time to write this 0800v3 firmware we chose in the earlier step.

a. Click Write

b. Once it finishes, you should get Write verified OK. If this fails, try again, follow the guide and do google searches based on your error as this has worked every time I’ve tried. (One of the reasons I wrote this tutorial)

c. I found a tutorial/note to try starting with the probe on, then hit the first OK, remove the probe when asked, power cycle, then OK again. Seems a bit more stable of a way to do it, but I’m still unsure after many times of doing it. Just keep trying

17. Once finished, click the Outro to reset the bus and continue on with life.
